Official Launch of our Wind Turbine

Alasdair Allan, MSP, Angus Brendan Macneil, MP, Archie Campbell, Councillor, Donald Mackenzie and Angus Monk, SSE, Theona Morrison (Enterprise in Education) joined pupils and staff of Paible School on Monday 3 March to celebrate the handover of the school’s new turbine. Councillor Campbell on behalf of the Comhairle accepted a cheque of £9700 from Angus Monk as a contribution from Scottish and Southern Energy towards the purchase and installation of the turbine.
The 2.5kw turbine, named Gael in a school competition Calum and Laurence named the Turbine Gael

was won by former Pr6/7 pupils now in S1/2 and their teacher, Mrs Matheson in a Western Isles Schools Energy Saving Competition- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Pupils were congratulated for their huge achievement and for their innovative ideas with respect to conserving energy.
Guests joined the staff for a finger buffet prepared by local bakery. Later in the afternoon pupils enjoyed a snack of eco buns prepared by pupils and Mrs  Morag Ann MacIsaac.
As a school we wish to express our sincere thanks to Scottish and Southern energy not only for sponsoring the wind turbine but also for providing t-shirts for the competition winners as well as badges and pencils for all  pupils
