Paible is an equal opportunities school. All of its pupils, whatever their background or abilities, are of equal worth, have equal claims on the school, and equal rights within it.
In the content of our courses, in the way we teach them, and indeed in the whole school ethos, we are at pains to encourage all boys and girls to see themselves as equal shareholders in the future.
In the first and second years all pupils, boys and girls, follow the same common course. We do not believe that there are any such things as “boys’ subjects” or “girls’ subjects”. At no stage is there any discrimination with regard to sex, creed, colour or background.
There are three associated primary schools, including Paible Primary. The others are Lochmaddy Tel:500365 and Carinish Tel: 580222.
The school consists of a main building, annexe and four demountable units.
The main building houses all general purpose classrooms, Science lab., Science Resource Base, Technical Workshop, Art Room, Home Economics Room, Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Showers and Changing Rooms, Dining Room and kitchen, Offices and Staffroom, and Toilets. The annexe at the front of the school houses a Support for Learning base.
The four units at the rear house T1 Gaelic, T2 Mathematics, T3 Social Subjects/French and T4 Music
Playing field was upgraded in August 2005 and there is an enclosed all weather area.
The facilities are well used by a variety of community groups, including: Bowling Club, Athletics Club, Football Clubs and Shinty
Bookings and any information are available through the school. Any information about swimming is available from Lindsay Macdonald, Community Education, Sgoil Lionacleit (Tel:01870 60 3065)
At Paible, we make every effort to use the community as a resource and to encourage members of the community to contribute to the life of the school. Classes regularly visit establishments including the Taigh Ceilidh, Kildonan Museum, Taigh Chearsabhagh and Fish Farms. A number of individuals have also worked with different classes to contribute to their learning experiences. We also have close links with our Associated Primaries.
Our aim is to make more use of the local community to extend and enrich our pupils’ education.
Consent forms are issued prior to formal visits which involve pupils travelling from school.
