Our School

Mr Hugh MacDonald - Headteacher
Paible School is a 5 - 14 school which serves the community of North Uist, Berneray and Grimsay. The primary department serves the village of Paible and the surrounding rural area in North Uist. Its secondary department provides education from S1 to S2 for all pupils living on the island and for those living in Berneray and Grimsay.
During session 2009/2010 the school roll comprises 60 pupils and the teaching complement is 13 full-time equivalent including those designated to support pupils with learning difficulties and special needs. There are three associated primary schools, including Paible Primary. The others are Lochmaddy and Carinish.
Paible School is an integral part of the community both educationally and socially.
We hope that you will find this website useful and informative. As your child progresses through school, we shall keep you as fully informed as possible. We hope that you, in turn, will wish to be closely involved in the education of your son or daughter, and will contact the School when you feel we can assist in any way.
Our goal at Paible School is to provide a happy, warm, secure learning space which will inspire in our children a positive attitude to work, self, others and the environment. We will encourage your child to reach his/her potential in every direction -–academic, creative, personal, social, physical and emotional.
Our pupils are encouraged to accept responsibility and to make positive contributions to the school, its community and beyond. We consider high standards of behaviour and appearance to be essential, and we hope that you will join us in ensuring that they are maintained.
Our curriculum provides an education which is broad and balanced. We hope the curriculum ensures that individuals’ needs are catered for and that pupils have an opportunity to participate in new, varied and stimulating experiences.
Our ultimate aim is to provide the best possible education for all our pupils.
We hope our web site will give you a flavour of our school. During the course of the year we will keep you informed about school activities through regular newsletters and parents evenings. Please know that we are available to answer questions or to discuss any concerns you may have.
Yours sincerely,
Hugh MacDonald
