On the afternoon of 7th December a group of pupils accompanied by Ms Garbutt, Cirsty MacInnes and ‘Donald Ban’ MacDonald visited Trianaid residential home to entertain the residents. The choir sang their winning Mod pieces and a gaelic carol. Kenny had everyone’s feet tapping to lively accordion tunes, and Marion,Hamish and Kenny played the chanter. Donald Bàn played the electric chanter for dancers Anna, Mairi, Zoe and Marion. The residents also enjoyed a funny gaelic story from Marion which gave her first prize at the mod and the Feis singers gave a selection of puirt they had learnt from Cathy Laing. The MC for the afternoon was in the capable hands of Declan MacLellan. Thank you to the staff and residents of Trianaid for having us and for a sumptuous spread of teas, juices homebaking and goodies for the pupils, and also to bus driver Iain MacQuarrie. We hope to visit Trianaid again next term. Top of page
Come Dine with Me
Upper primary pupils displayed lots of culinary skills on Monday 5th December. With excellent guidance & supervision from Celia & Cirsty they prepared a hot and cold buffet with delicious desserts to follow. All staff tasted the selection and thoroughly enjoyed the different flavours and careful presentation. They then had the difficult task of judging. All pupils were presented with participation certificates, by Rae & Janice from our canteen, to congratulate them on their hard work and positive attitude to the whole enterprise.

Pupil Led Evening
On Wednesday 23rd November Paible School held an informative evening for parents led by the pupils.
Parents & family members joined the staff and pupils for a short introductory presentation on Curriculum for Excellence. This was ably led by primary one & primary seven pupils who through their Circus Themed Interdisciplinary project explained the levels of early, first & second. View our slide show
All pupils then led their family round various learning areas showing their personal work folios, their computing work etc. Many participated in various circus skills e.g. juggling, plate balancing & stilt walking as well as clown biscuit decoration.
An enjoyable Pupil Led Evening encouraged pupils at all stages to share their learning with family members. Top of page

The school ‘Snag’ - School Nutrition Action Group group organised a pink baking sale. All classes took part in baking and decorating a selection of delicious cakes! There was also a lucky draw with the star prize of a Paible School Wear it Pink Cake won by Zoe Wilkie P5.

Entertaining Cruise Ship passengers.
Primary 5-7 G were very kindly invited by Neil Johnson, for a tour of MS Quest, a cruise ship which had been cruising the British Isles. The ‘Noble Caledonia’ ship was following the trail of the Lord of the Isles, which included stopovers in Iona, Skye and North Uist. The visit was due to be part of the classes work on the ill-fated RMS Titanic. Unfortunately, the adverse weather meant pupils couldn’t get onto the vessel as it was unable to berth at Lochmaddy. However, passengers were shuttled to dry land by smaller boats and were able to enjoy lunch and entertainment at the Lochmaddy hotel. The school pupils performed their winning choir songs and Catriona Garbutt also put in an appearance to the delight of the passengers and sang some traditional Uist songs for them. I think they thoroughly enjoyed their visit to North Uist and experienced some good North Uist hospitality! Top of page
Mòd Bharraigh
Còisir òg Sgoil Phaibil had a very successful trip to the first ever Barra mod on Saturday 1st October. A lovely day for travelling, the sun was shining and the sea was calm!! The pupils, who are from Primary 3 – 7, Gaelic and English classes, sang in 2 competitions. They gave an energetic performance of ‘Oran na Cloiche’, a song which poses a challenge for even the most experienced of voices, and also sang 3 puirt a beul in quick time to the delight of the judges. The pupils were very well presented in their school uniform and behaved impeccably throughout the day. Many thanks to all who supported the choir on the day and in the lead up, especially Michelle Crombie, Cirsty MacInnes and Catherine Wilkie.
