Enrolment
Enrolment of infants due to start in August, takes place in February on a date notified by press advertisement. Pupils can be taught through the medium of Gaelic or English. Parents should indicate preference on enrolment form. Children who will be five years old before the last day of the following February are eligible for enrolment. At the time of enrolment, parents should bring their child’s birth certificate with them to the school and should inform the school of any medical problems or special needs which their child may have.
Parents and new entrants have an opportunity in the Summer term to meet staff and discuss any matters relating to their child’s education. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to inform the school of any subsequent change in the child’s medical record
Parents of pupils transferring from the associated primaries to S1 are invited to a meeting in February where they can meet staff individually to discuss policies and courses.
All the Primary 7 children who are to join us for the new session will be invited to attend the school for 2 days introductory course in June.
Families moving into the area should register their children at the school office.
Pupils who live outside the catchment area should make an application to the Director of Education, Council Offices, Stornoway (Tel: 01851 70 3773). Every effort will be made to meet the parents’ requests within the limits of accommodation
At the end of S2 pupils transfer to Sgoil Lionacleit, Benbecula (Tel: 01870 60 2211)
In March and April of S2, pupils receive a course of guidance geared to assist them to make choices for their courses in S3 and S4. Pupils and parents are also given the opportunity to meet the Careers Officer and representative of the Guidance staff of Sgoil Lionacleit in Paible School in April.
