P1-3 with Toby and their gifts from Hutchesons' Grammar school

P1-3 pupils received a very interesting parcel from the postman recently! Inside a carefully wrapped brown box was a teddy bear called Toby. He had come all the way from Mrs Ross’s P2 class in Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow. He has never been to an island before, and has requested to experience Island life with the boys and girls in our class.
We are going to take him home, and take pictures of what he gets up to with us. We are going to use our school webpage to link up with the boys and girls in Hutchesons’, so they can keep track of what Toby gets up to in North Uist.
We have sent our lamb teddy, Seonaidh, down to Glasgow to experience City life with P2! We hope he behaves himself, and look forward to seeing the pictures of what he gets up to!

Wed 23rd March

Today I am at Isolde’s house. I went to the riding school. I rode Sindy. I also stroked her. I had a chicken wrap for dinner. It was yummy. I brushed my teeth and got ready for bed.  I had a story and then I fell fast asleep. In the morning, I had some toast for my breakfast.

Sat 19th March

I am with Finlay today. We had lots of birthday cake. Norman played the accordion and we were dancing.  I went for a ride with Hector the dog around the garden and we saw some more animals. Scruffy and Silvey are the cats and Ben is another dog. Hector can run very fast. We went on the quad and watched a film.

Friday 18th March

Today I am staying with Finlay and Iona. We had a lot of fun at a party. Toby was dancing like mad in the old house. Toby and I made the old house into a play room and a party room.  Toby was up very late. Toby was very tired the next day. He went on the new quad. It is used to take food to the sheep and horse. Toby was drinking a carton of juice.

Wed 16th March

I am staying at Ciaraleigh’s house. We bounced on the trampoline and went on the slide.  I went to see the sheep with Kasia and Ciaraleigh.  After dinner, Ciaraleigh put a baby gro on me because I had no pyjamas in my bag!!  We brushed our teeth and then went to bed. It was really fun at Ciaraleigh’s house.

Thursday10th March

I am at Iona’s house. I went to athletics and I had fun. Then we went to Grannies house and went onto the laptop. We had a lot of fun. We then went to the sheep to feed them nuts and hay. I showed Toby my Grandpas’ buses, he has 5 of them and my name is on one of them. After dinner, we went to a feis concert to listen to the children playing the chanter, pipes and accordion. They were also singing. Toby was very tired and fell asleep in the car on the way home. The next day, Toby went to see the cows and the new calves. They are called Lily and Dan. Toby was patting them.

Wednesday 8th March

On Wednesday I went home with Katie to Tigharry.  I helped take the ramp down with a car on it in her dad’s garage. I helped on the computer. 
We went to see Katie’s Grandpa and had biscuits.
We played in Katie’s room with the rocking horse and dolls house.  We jumped on Katie’s mummy’s bed with Kean and played hide and seek.  We hid in the plants.  I also played the accordion.

Monday 7th March

On Monday I went home with my new friend Morven.  She lives with her Mum, Dad and little brother Joseph.

I went on Morven’s bike and played in her garden.  The next day was windy and rainy so we played in Joseph’s tent.  I slept in Morven’s bed. 
She has a cosy bed but she snores!

Saturday 5th March

I stayed with Poppy at the weekend. Poppy and I went to see the

fishing boats and the ferry at the pier. We went to see Grandpas old car.

Thursday 3rd March

I spent time in Sollas with John and his family.
I met John’s cat Tiger.

We also played football and John took me to athletics club which I enjoyed. On Saturday, I went to the trees in Langass wood for cross-country. We were tired on Sunday, so we had a long lie and played with lots of toys in his room.

Tuesday 1st March

Today I am staying with Shaun in Sollas. He stays with his Mum, Dad and sister, Lauren.  We went to feed the sheep. They will have lambs next month.

We went in his dad’s lorry and then played outside on theslide. We went to see Struan Cottage near his house it looks across to the island of Vallay. Lots of people stop and take pictures of it.

Saturday 26th February

I have arrived on North Uist and this weekend I am staying at my friend Alfie’s house. Alfie is nearly 7 years old, and he lives with his Mummy, daddy and baby sister Sophie. Yesterday, I had a ride in Sophie’s pram on a long walk, and today the family took me to the beach. We were playing football. Alfie is a very good footballer because he won the match. We had a brilliant time at the beach.

Bug Hunters

P1-3 are ‘Bug Hunters’ this term, having fun learning all about mini beasts. We have enjoyed getting outside into the school grounds and garden hunting for different mini beasts. We have been very gentle with them, keeping them for  only a short time to investigate what they look like close up and any patterns they may have.
