Room 5 pupils have been very busy this week learning about the Chinese New Year. This festival started on Monday 26th of January, and lasts for 15 days! The date changes each year depending on the moon phases. It starts on a new moon, and ends on the full moon with a lantern festival. 2009 is the year of the ox. To find out why each year is named after an animal, visit the Topmark Website to read the story
We made some Chinese lanterns to decorate our classroom, and Celia helped us to make dragons to perform a dragon dance.

We have also been using chopsticks in class and Chinese numbers to 10 for our maths!! We have really enjoyed learning about a culture that is very different to ours. View a slide show of our photos.
