Granny's Attic

Pr1-4 Enterprise

Our topic for the term was Granny’s Attic and we learnt all about when our Grannies were young. We wanted to do an enterprise that would be part of this and so we invited older people from the island to the school. Enterprise is all about coming up with new ideas and making them work. First we got into committees

and we sorted out who was doing what and everybody got a job to do. We came up with a plan of the jobs needing done. Then we started making the food and getting organised. We decided to do a puppet show, dances, music, accordion, chanter and the piano for entertainment. For the puppet show some of us brought puppets in and we made a puppet theatre and wrote the script ourselves. We also sang a song as the whole class. We practised and practised

and practised! On the day itself, we sorted out tables and chairs and made sandwiches. When the old people came, we welcomed them and told them where to go. Then they had afternoon tea

before we started the entertainment. After that, we asked them questions about when they were children. We gave them presents

and pictures which we had made. It went fantastically and was a super day. We all behaved very well! All of us were very tired at the end. The next school day, we talked about how it had gone. IT WAS THE BEST ENTERPRISE EVER!
