20 soldiers of the Royal Highland Fusiliers 2nd battalion today tested positive for taking drugs after random tests were carried out on March 5th.
The soldiers are said to be sacked from the army for testing positive for cannibis, cocaine, ecstasy and amphetamine but are still fighting to save their jobs. One had previously tested positive and is facing an automatic discharge from the regime.
Lt Col Paul Harkness said. “There is no room for people who take illegal drugs in this battalion. The army policy on illegal drugs is quite clear-they are incompatible with military service and will not be tolerated.”
The last compulsory drug tests that were taken in June 2006 came out with only one testing positive meaning that the latest results tell us that there is a 20-fold increase.
The MOD also launched an investigation earlier this month after pictures of the 2nd battalion of the royal regime of Scotland were troops snorting cocaine in Cyprus were found.
Former Transport sergeant in the woman’s army Nina Thompson said,” I know their actions should be notified and I agree with them losing their jobs.”
